Project Manager Development PVD Hardware (gn) 
 

Do you want to shape the future of surface technologies and work on cutting-edge thin film coating solutions that power industries worldwide?

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and manage R&D projects for the development of new PVD/PACVD hardware 
• Design and develop advanced hardware components (e.g., arc sources, sputter sources, ion sources, electronic devices) for improved coating systems
• Perform simulations (e.g., vapor flux distribution, magnetic flux, thermal management, gas flow) and validate results on existing coating platforms
• Drive internal and external collaborations, including partnerships with suppliers and universities, to foster long-term innovation
• Scout and evaluate external hardware solutions, providing critical insights for strategic decision-making
• Assess patent landscapes and contribute to Oerlikon’s intellectual property strategy
• Represent Oerlikon in the PVD community through publications and presentations

Your Profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Solid knowledge of PVD technologies and/or related industrial applications
• Experience in an industrial environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluency in English; willingness to acquire conversational German
• Ability to travel occasionally (up to 20%)
