The Position
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines for patients. We are offering an outstanding opportunity to play an integral role in designing, planning, and implementing the organizational vision and strategy for Neuroscience & Rare Diseases (NRD) and the Institute of Human Biology (IHB).
As the Chief of Staff , you will act as a strategic adviser and execution partner to the SVP, enabling leadership effectiveness and driving strategic alignment across our research and development functions. You will serve as a member of the NRD and IHB Leadership Teams, ensuring we create a culture defined by curiosity and responsibility where talented people bring forward extraordinary innovation. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to play an integral role in designing and implementing the organizational vision for Neuroscience & Rare Diseases and the Institute of Human Biology.
The Opportunity
Act as a thought partner to the SVP on strategic, operational, and cultural matters, ensuring leadership is briefed and prepared.
Define and set strategic priorities in collaboration with leadership to enable the implementation of business operations plans.
Manage executive priorities and communications to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the leadership team with internal and external global stakeholders.
Lead the business management for Leadership Teams, including agenda planning, facilitating meetings, and tracking action items.
Drive pRED-wide initiatives to identify opportunities for synergy and efficiency across the organization.
Facilitate communication between NRD, IHB, and other functions to ensure alignment on critical decisions.
Build efficient project teams focused on psychological safety, coaching others toward action-oriented delivery.
Who You Are
You are passionate about leading and influencing people and enthusiastic about driving decision-making in a fast-paced environment. You manage ambiguity positively and are not afraid to challenge the status quo to partner effectively with leadership:
Education & Research: You hold a PhD in Neuroscience and have direct working experience in Neuroscience Research or Late Stage development.
Industry Expertise: You bring significant experience (ideally 10+ years) in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, focusing on new molecular entity research.
Strategic Mindset: You possess superb strategic thinking and influencing skills, with the ability to manage long-term priorities alongside detailed execution.
Communication: You have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to transform complex topics into clear messages for executive stakeholders.
Leadership: You are an independent self-starter who models Roche’s Operating Principles and is comfortable working at senior levels globally.
