For our client in the banking sector based in Basel, we are looking for an experienced, motivated, and open-minded Database Performance Engineer with strong expertise in PostgreSQL.

Your tasks:

• Perform SQL analysis, tuning, and database optimization (achieving up to 99% runtime reduction)
• Execute data migration activities across systems and environments
• Manage and implement migration from cluster to container architectures
• Introduce and configure Citus for distributed database scaling
• Design and build ETL pipelines to support data processing and integration
• Conduct application performance optimization to ensure stability and efficiency
• Support and collaborate in requirements management to align technical solutions with business needs
• Analyze and implement customer requirements in close coordination with stakeholders
• Support functional testing, including SQL-based test analysis
• Perform and assist in technical testing to validate solution performance and reliability

Your profil:

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals and query handling
• Strong understanding of database performance, data management, and SQL optimization
• Experience with analytical workloads and update-heavy scenarios
• Hands-on experience designing and interpreting performance experiments
• Familiarity with observability tools and performance metrics
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills
• Experience with Citus, including columnar storage, is a strong plus
• Fluent in English
