Interim Treasurer – CHI Business (12 month contract)
Über diesen Job
Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents.
While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.
As Lonza prepares for the carve-out of the Capsules and Health Ingredients (CHI) business, we are looking for an Interim Treasurer (CHI) to lead all treasury activities globally during this critical transition period. This is a high-impact, strategically essential role that will build the full treasury foundation for CHI — from capital structure and financing to liquidity, cash management, governance, and bank relationships.
Based in Basel, you will operate with significant autonomy and direct exposure to senior executives, rating agencies, banks, and the future CHI ownership. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced treasury leader to design and execute a new global treasury function, influence CHI’s future capital structure, and play a pivotal role in one of Lonza’s most strategically important transactions.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as Interim Group Treasurer for CHI, responsible for all treasury activities globally
- Lead CHI’s external and internal financing strategy, including debt and bank loan portfolio management
- Design CHI’s capital structure, negotiate financing arrangements, and manage CHI’s debt and bank loan portfolio
- Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and short-term investments
- Establish all treasury processes, operating models, controls, and governance required for Day 1 readiness
- Act as the primary interface with banks, rating agencies, debt investors, treasury auditors, and the future ownership
- Oversee FX risk management and ensure CHI is protected against market volatility
- Manage CHI’s banking infrastructure, cash pooling, treasury systems, and outsourced operations
- Prepare funding proposals and capital recommendations for the CHI CFO and CHI Board
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders across Finance, Tax, Legal, Accounting, Controlling, Procurement, and IT
- Lead and develop a small team of treasury professionals and manage global outsourcing partners
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in corporate treasury, banking, or debt capital markets
- Strong expertise in capital markets, FX, interest rate risk, and liquidity management
- Experience with loan syndication, debt issuance, and treasury governance
- Experience in high-leverage, PE-backed, or carve-out environments strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, high-impact messages
- Strong analytical skills and hands-on leadership
- Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders internally and externally
- ACT or CFA certification is a plus
- Fluent in English; German preferred
