Discovery Sciences (DSc) Basel is seeking an exceptional scientist with dual expertise in stem-cell technology and automated assays to support drug discovery. The successful candidate will apply complex disease models at scale for identifying new therapeutics and targets, and collaborate with both internal teams and academic partners to develop and use advanced human in vitro disease models for drug discovery.

Major accountabilities:

• Develop and execute scalable methods for using organoid and organ-on-chip-based disease models for target discovery on robotic platforms.

• Conduct research as a bench scientist within an interdisciplinary and collaborative matrix environment as part of the Applied Tissue Models Center (ATMC).

• Establish effective relationships within DSc, across various Therapeutic Areas, and with academic collaborators. Represent Novartis values of transparency, integrity, courage, innovation, quality, and collaboration.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's or equivalent bio-engineering degree in cell/molecular biology, or biotechnology with industry experience.

• Strong skills in human induced stem cell technology, gene editing/CRISPR, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology.

• Experience working with organoids, organ-on-chip models, and long-term differentiation protocols using plates, bioreactors, and robotic platforms.

• Proficient with large automation setups, liquid handlers, washers, readers, scheduling software, and readout technologies such as fluorescence and live-cell microscopy.

Work Experience:

• Has worked in a high-throughput automation settings

• Practical work experience in pharmaceutical industry

• Has set up organoid models for drug discovery
