About the role:

Join the Global Device and Packaging Technology team at Novartis as a Senior Expert in Parenteral Packaging Technology. In this pivotal role, your focus will be the development of parenteral packaging solutions specifically for radioligand therapies. You will play a key part in advancing the design and development of a new syringe system intended for the intravenous administration of radioligand products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and effective primary packaging solutions that support the next generation of therapies.

About the Role

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of syringe systems for radioligand therapies, collaborating with interdisciplinary project teams and managing design history documentation for assigned projects.
  • Utilize technical expertise to resolve design, development, and operational challenges, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of parenteral primary packaging and combination products, as well as related processes and procedures.
  • Perform technical assessments to confirm compliance and proper functionality of packaging components and systems.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of materials—including glass, polymers, rubbers, silicone/lubricants, sterile barrier systems, and adhesives—and manufacturing methods such as injection molding, glass converting, rubber molding, assembly, fill & finish, and transport validation.
  • Address and resolve problems, such as deviations or unexpected experimental results, within your area of responsibility, and communicate solutions effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Develop packaging prototypes for both early and late development phases using rapid prototyping techniques, machined parts, and/or soft tooling.
  • Conduct assessments for manufacturability and perform tolerance stack analyses to ensure robust product design.
  • Stay current in the fields of materials, design, and manufacturing to effectively manage project-specific third-party collaborations.
  • Contribute to general development activities, including platform documentation, technology landscaping, and change control management.
  • Drive preparation of technical documentation required for the registration of medical devices and combination products, and provide support in responding to health authority inquiries.

Essential Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD in engineering, materials science, pharmaceutical technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable position, ideally within the primary packaging, medical device, combination product development, or pharmaceutical industries; experience with radioligand therapies (RLT) is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence within a global, matrixed organization; possesses strong communication and negotiation abilities, actively engages with stakeholders, and effectively collaborates across different functional areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
