Insufficient access to finance for infrastructure projects, particularly for innovative and transformative projects addressing climate change, is one of the most critical barriers hindering sustainable urban development. The C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) as part of the Climate-resilient Infrastructure Investments in Cities (CIVIC) programme platform seeks to overcome this gap by enabling cities to prepare and deliver their ambitious climate actions. We support our partner cities through tailored capacity development, knowledge exchange and technical assistance around project preparation and infrastructure finance. The CFF was launched in 2015 as a multi-donor initiative. The CFF is jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40).
