20.10.2025 - 17.04.2026
Field of expertise:
offspring
Type of employment:
Full-time
Application deadline:

Field of activity
The cybersecurity of public institutions is also under severe pressure in many of Germany's partner countries. Cyberattacks are increasingly aimed at destabilizing the society and government of these states. The advancing degree of digitalization of public services increases the ongoing threat of such attacks.
The goal is to strengthen the capabilities of partners at the national and regional levels and to effectively protect both their citizens and critical civilian infrastructure from cyberattacks. This is achieved, among other things, through continuing education and training, promoting exchanges between diplomats and subject matter experts, and establishing uniform standards and institutions.
Your tasks
  • Support in advising the Federal Foreign Office and other project partners on cybersecurity and cyber capacity development, e.g. through research
  • Support in the preparation and organization of trainings, delegation trips and events with project partners
  • Support in the development of communication materials for the project, such as presentations
Your profile
  • Completed university degree (at least Bachelor's degree) in the field of political or social sciences or a comparable subject relevant to the position
  • Knowledge of German and international foreign and security policy and/or knowledge of cybersecurity
  • Initial professional experience in international cooperation or development cooperation is an advantage, e.g. through internships or voluntary work
  • Experience in working with African partners is an advantage
  • Experience in (political) communication, event management or similar is an advantage
  • Initial experience in cooperation with public, private or civil society institutions in digital or security policy areas is an advantage, e.g. through study projects or internships
  • Strong commitment, team orientation, analytical understanding and quick comprehension, organizational talent and enjoyment of event management
  • Fluent German and English skills
Notes

GIZ is a signatory to the Diversity Charter. Recognizing, valuing, and embracing diversity within the company is important to us. All employees should feel valued – regardless of gender and gender identity, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, or sexual orientation.

The internship is only possible if you are currently enrolled, are enrolled in a continuing education program that includes an internship, or if you have completed your studies no more than six months ago at the start of the internship.

The monthly intern salary is €2,205.04 (gross).
