The Department Accelerator Operation and Technology is looking for
Junior Developer (f/m/d) for the Accelerator Control System
Your Tasks
- EPICS Development: You will develop applications for the control systems of the accelerators using the EPICS control system frame work, primarily in the form of EPICS records. The focus is on control loops, e.g., for controlling the electron beam in the storage ring (orbit feedback) and automating process sequences, some of which are currently performed manually.
- Interface Design: You will design interfaces for the applications, primarily using the Control System Studio/Phoebus, and contribute to its further development.
- Practical Application: You will participate in the shift service of the accelerator operations team and thus always have a connection to the application of our product.
- On-Call Duty: In rotation with other colleagues, you will take part in on-call duties to provide support in case of problems and help restore operations.
- You have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a comparable field.
- You have knowledge and experience in using at least one compiled programming language and one scripting language (e.g., C and Python).
- You are familiar with using the Linux command line and common tools, such as Git, Make, or SSH.
- Additionally, experience in one of the following areas is advantageous:
- Using a SCADA framework, ideally EPICS
- Knowledge of control, automation or feedback techniques and technology
- Working in a large scientific facility
- You are also willing to participate in shift work and on-call duties on occasion.
