Your Future Role
Ernst-Reuter-Platz 6, in the heart of Berlin, is home to Alstom's DACH regional headquarters. Up to 500 colleagues of more than 40 nationalities work here, focusing on project management, business development, and regional strategy, with a special emphasis on rail digitalization. Our product line Rolling Stock & Components offers products from the broadest portfolio in the rail industry. Our innovation focus is on green and smart solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen.
In the portfolio of Mainline CNE Projects and Development of >1 b€ pa business volume and > 40 live projects, you will be responsible for Project QCDP performance and Project Financial performance (Margin & Cash). As owner of the Project Management Work Package (WP), the Project Director is QCDP accountable for all the activities of his/her WP. You will be responsible for the Project governance, Project strategy in line with contract requirements, including PMP elaboration and objectives allocation to Sub-Systems (planning, cost, quality, performance).
In this role, you will report to Falk Mehdorn, VP RSC Project & Development Mainline and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
We’ll look for you to:
• Lead and coordinate project activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out including:
o Proper transfer from tender to project
o Definition of Project objectives and main drivers (product/service performance, planning) to achieve customer satisfaction in the frame of the Contract
• Resources management:
o Define in advance project core team staffing, as well as his/her WP resources
o Escalate when project resources available do not match the project needs
• Manage the Core Team and collaborate with Project Managers from both internal and external partners:
o Make sure that key project stakeholders are aligned towards project/ goals.
o Engage project teams in the successful achievement of project objectives and strengthen relationships among them
o Synchronize internal partners and arbitrating when necessary
• Align with the contractual requirements and management of variation orders:
o Lead project-level arbitration and change management across Q, C, D, P dimensions, including claims and litigation handling when necessary.
o Drive proactive risk, savings, and opportunity management while ensuring alignment with customer contractual requirements.
o Oversee project progress and KPIs, delivering transparent reporting to senior management during critical reviews.
o Ensure stakeholder engagement and compliance with all applicable standards, including Ethics, EHS, Railway Safety, and Quality protocols.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field.
• Several years of professional experience in the railway industry and strong technical understanding.
o Ideally, you have specialist knowledge of all common signalling technology terms for local and long-distance traffic or have experience in similar sectors (mechanical and plant engineering, wind energy and aircraft industry).
• Several years of experience in project management and planning, plus good knowledge of contract management.
• Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and navigating multicultural environments.
• Good knowledge of planning & scheduling tools such as Kinaxis, Planisware, Primavera or Microsoft Project.
• Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, with a persuasive and confident presence in international settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence senior leadership.
• Proven ability to thrive in a matrixed, international organization, demonstrating accountability and resilience under pressure.
• Results-driven and collaborative leadership style, with a rigorous and transparent approach to managing complexity.
• Advanced certification in Project Management/ Planning Management or relevant demonstration in practice is highly preferred.
• English and German at a business fluent level are mandatory for this role, French fluency is considered a plus.
