The NVH team is looking for a skilled and motivated NVH Powertrain Engineer to develop, analyze and test the drive units propelling our vehicles to the next level. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross functional teams to improve the current - and next generation drive units for our vehicle line-up and offer design guidance from prototype to launch phase. What You’ll Do:
- Conduct Noise and Vibration Testing: Perform source-level noise and vibration assessments on prototype drive units and provide feedback for design improvements
- Evaluate NVH Requirements: Identify and assess the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) development needs for Tesla current and future programs, focusing on areas such as powertrain design of experiments (DOE), acoustical materials, drive unit isolation and mass and cost down initiatives
- Prioritize and Plan: Prioritize NVH development needs and create detailed test plans to evaluate the impact of proposed designs on overall NVH performance
- Perform Advanced Analysis: Conduct modal analysis, transfer path analysis, vibration studies, and acoustic transfer function analysis throughout the design and development process to ensure world-class vehicle performance
- Collaborate with cross functional design team: Work closely with cross functional design teams (chassis, powertrain and battery structures) to provide NVH guidance for future product development and risk assessments
- Work with Manufacturing: Partner with the manufacturing team to set up NVH dyno for component testing and develop pass/fail criteria based on vehicle level performance
- Contribute to Technical Documentation: Offer guidance and input into the creation of component specifications, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and other critical technical design documents where testing and evaluation are key
What You’ll Bring:
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of acoustics and vibration principles and rotational systems
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in NVH powertrain testing and analysis
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in NVH instrumentation and data acquisition, with experience using tools such as Siemen’s SimCentre, LMS Testlab, Matlab, Signal X etc.
- CAE Knowledge: Familiarity with NVH CAE methods is an advantage
- Strong communication abilities, self-driven, excellent team collaborator, and an all-around problem solver
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in delivering analysis on complex p
