As a Principal Engineer at JOIN.com, you will be helping engineering teams and a DevOps team to improve our application architecture, infrastructure, day to day life of our engineers with the business needs in mind by making the hard problems go away.

Tasks

• Improve our existing architecture, error handling, testing strategy, logging libraries and everything else that is a foundation for our product engineers
• Conduct code reviews and suggest improvements
• Extend your experience with modern technologies: Node.js, TypeScript, Jest, GraphQL, gRPC, Google Pub/Sub, Kafka, Kubernetes
• Participate in technical retrospectives to discuss testing culture, architectural solutions, automation topics, coding standards, and many more!
• Refine your communication, ownership, accountability, and team play skills - we value these highly!
• Be not “just” a coder — you are empowered to and always thinking about our product value that you can bring and how to improve the experience of our customers even by not working on product development directly

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Node.js AND any strongly typed languages (C#, Java, Scala, Kotlin, Golang)
• Unit/integration testing experience (We work by TDD!)
• Experience with relational databases like Postgres, MySQL, or MSSQL. Familiarity with transactions and locks
• Experience with message brokers (SNS/RabbitMQ/Kafka/Google PubSub/etc...) and familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with GraphQL
• You are a quick learner, you suggest your own solutions and raise flags when help or clarification is needed
• You are conscious about the speed of delivery vs quality of code and find the best balance

Nice to have:

• Experience with GCP or AWS
• Experience in DevOps or tooling of any kind (Terraform, Ansible, etc…)
