Senior AI/ML Scientist (all genders)

We are looking for a Senior AI/ML Scientist (all genders) to drive model/algorithm research and development in the areas of medical imaging and machine learning for our software products. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive the development of advanced models and algorithms that solve complex business problems. You will lead research initiatives, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement AI/ML solutions that enhance our products and services. You are a very strong contributor with State-of-the-Art knowledge (theoretical AND applied) who intrinsically fosters good software development practices and contributes to the ramp-up and delivery of our product pipeline.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and execute applied research and early development projects in the areas of Medical Imaging and Machine Learning.
• Drive the design, development, implementation and evaluation of state-of-the-art machine learning models and algorithms for various applications.
• Curate and work with multi-modal datasets from internal and external sources to derive insights and improve model performance and define and/or implement data re-use.
• Conduct research to advance the field of AI/ML, explore new techniques and methodologies and innovate approaches to solve complex problems. Turn research prototypes into excellent, customer-ready solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to integrate machine learning models into production systems.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists and machine learning engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
• Support evaluation of external solution providers and co-development parters
• Publish research results in peer reviewed journals and present at conferences.

WHO YOU ARE

• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science or Data Science.
• Expert-level knowledge in Machine Learning and broad knowledge in the domains of computer vision and/or language processing.
• Several years relevant industry experience related to the developing models/AI-powered features/workflows with a track record of successful product integration.
• Expecience in image data handling, processing and technology.
• Excellent Python programming skills and at least one other modern programming language (C++ preferred).
• Professional experience with Pytorch and TensorFlow, state-of-the-art foundation models, frameworks and the AI toolchain.
• Professional experience with all relevant GCP AI-related services including Google’s Generative AI offering.
• Advocate of professional technical standards, such as clean code, good architecture , reproducible experiments, and (data, code, model) version control.
• Proven track record of actively publishing in journals and conferences during the last 2 years.
• Very strong analytical and systematical thinking.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in local language and English.
