As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping our company. At this stage, every line of code, every architectural decision, and every optimization has a direct impact on our success. For example, you will design and scale high-volume data pipelines that process large amounts of retail media data, enabling AI-driven ad targeting, real-time reporting, and campaign optimization. If you're autonomous, enjoy solving data challenges, and care about making a real impact, this role is for you.
Activities
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, optimize, and own data pipelines for batch and real-time processing.
- Collaborate with ML engineers & developers to integrate predictive models that enhance ad performance.
- Develop and maintain ETL workflows for secure, reliable data processing at scale.
- Monitor, analyze, and improve pipeline performance for low latency, high availability, and cost efficiency.
- Make pragmatic decisions on tools, technologies, and trade-offs to keep things efficient and cost-effective.
Requirements
What You Bring
- Proven experience in building and optimizing high-scale data pipelines in production.
- Deep understanding of database internals, indexing, distributed systems, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on expertise with SQL, Python, BigQuery, dbt, Postgres, Kafka, Redis, and any workflow orchestrator for data pipelines.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership - you don´t wait for instructions.
- Strong bias for action - you focus on solutions, not overengineering.
- Familiarity with DataOps (CI/CD, pipeline monitoring, automated testing) is a plus.
- Experience with AI/ML-powered data solutions is nice to have, but not required.
- Bonus: Experience with Go, Kubernetes, Temporal, Flink, Spark.
- Clear, no-nonsense (English) communication skills - explain complex ideas simply.
- While we operate remotely, you must live in Germany and be eligible to work here.
