We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Berlin office!

We are seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to strengthen our Berlin engineering team and help shape the next generation of Babbel’s content platform. You will own significant architecture and implementation work across our learning content systems and editor tooling, drive long-term technical decisions, and mentor engineers to drive improvements in reliability, performance, and developer experience. Our primary stack is TypeScript and Node.js, used across event-driven microservices, content modelling, content delivery, and CMS customization.

You will:

• Lead design and evolution of the learning content architecture, propose, validate and implement scalable solutions that support editors and the product roadmap
• Take technical ownership of key services and subsystems (API design, data models, delivery pipelines), ensuring maintainability, observability and operational excellence
• Deliver high impact fullstack features end to end: backend (Node.js/TypeScript), frontend/editor tooling, deployment and monitoring
• Define and enforce API and integration standards used across teams to improve consistency and reduce friction
• Drive decisions on event-driven and distributed system patterns and contribute to cross team architecture discussions
• Mentor and coach other engineers through pair programming, design reviews and code reviews, improving team practices around testing, CI/CD and reliability
• Partner closely with Product and Content teams to turn editorial needs into robust, production-ready solutions and translate requirements into measurable success metrics
• Proactively monitor system health and performance, lead incident response and postmortems to continuously improve uptime and resilience

You have:

• 5+ years of hands-on fullstack engineering experience with a track record of delivering complex production systems
• Demonstrated experience guiding technical strategy and driving initiatives that align with business goals
• Strong API design skills (REST or GraphQL) and experience designing resilient service boundaries and contracts
• Deep experience with TypeScript and Node.js or equivalent server-side JavaScript experience
• Solid testing discipline, including unit, integration and end-to-end testing strategies, and experience raising test coverage and confidence
• Practical experience with monitoring, tracing and alerting and responding to production incidents
• Product-oriented mindset, you take ownership of quality and outcomes and can link technical choices to user and business impact
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
• Fluent in written and spoken English

Nice to have:

• Experience with Golang or Ruby on Rails
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD automation
• Background with event-driven, distributed architectures and stream-processing patterns
• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, Lambda and Kinesis
• Prior work on CMS or content-delivery platforms and tooling for content editors
