Hey there! We're on the lookout for a talented Staff Engineer to join our Staffbase team and help us build an awesome product that enables our customers to inform, engage, and inspire their employees. We're looking for empathetic and motivated team players who are passionate about technology, growth, ownership, and mentoring others. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll play a key role in driving technical excellence and strategy, while also contributing with your advanced Developer skills.

Our Tech Stack Includes: React.js, TypeScript, Kotlin, Go, MongoDB, Terraform, Kubernetes, and more.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead technical strategy and architecture on initiatives
  • Mentor and guide engineers, providing leadership, feedback, and fostering growth through code reviews and technical discussions
  • Design scalable and robust systems, driving long-term solutions and infrastructure planning to accommodate future growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality SaaS products that are reliable, easy to use and delight our customers
  • Continuously improve and refine our development processes, CI/CD pipeline, and automation practices
  • Take ownership of major technical decisions, proactively addressing system bottlenecks and ensuring product quality
  • Contribute to and maintain technical roadmaps with engineering leadership to align project priorities and business goals
  • Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the team. Role modeling and developing others in the craft of Product Software Engineering

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Proven track record as a Staff Engineer or Technical Lead with strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Fullstack experience with expertise in Java/Kotlin on the backend and React and Typescript on the frontend
  • Ideally you have experience in Go
  • Knowledge of architecture and design patterns (e.g. event-driven architecture, distributed services, domain-driven design).
  • Ideally, you have worked with MongoDB, Terraform, Docker before, next to that, you are passionate for Test Driven Development.
  • Previous experience working alongside Product and Design Leaders to deliver customer value in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to drive technical direction, including making decisions on architectural trade-offs and evaluating the long-term impact of technical choices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and a commitment to improving operational efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
  • A passion for diversity and inclusion, and the ability to foster a culture where the team can move forward at speed while ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard and they can contribute their best.

What you'll get

  • Competitive Compensation - we offer attractive salary packages including LTIP (unit-based Long Term Incentive Plan). Employees receive units (based on job level) that have no initial value, but will crystallize upon an exit event and turn into cash. An exit event is a public listing of Staffbase or an acquisition by another company
  • Flexibility - we offer flexible working time models and the option of hybrid work, and support this with a yearly flex work allowance of €1560
  • Growth Budget - all employees get a yearly budget for external training of €1000, and one day off for growth per year (increase to two days in 2nd year)
  • Recharge - with 31 vacation days annually (incl. one floating holiday), plus pro rata fully paid Fridays off during August
