Job Description
In Berlin-Charlottenburg we are looking for you for the departments 8.4 "Mathematical Modeling and Data Analysis” and 8.1 "Biomedical Magnetic Resonance” as:
Student Assistant (m/f/d)
Mathematics, Statistics, Scientific Computing
(Reference Number 25-138-8C)
Your tasks:
In many areas of medical imaging, modern deep learning (DL) methods achieve results that rival or even surpass established methods of classical data analysis. This thesis aims to develop novel, probabilistic DL methods that allow the determination of uncertainties for a specific, inverse problem in medical imaging:
image reconstruction with reduced data acquisition in magnetic resonance imaging.
For this purpose, Working Group 8.42 "Data Analysis and Measurement Uncertainty," in collaboration with Working Group 8.13 "Quantitative MRI" at PTB, is seeking support on a student-assisted basis. The completion of a bachelor's or master's thesis in this area is possible and desired:
- Development of a DL approach to solve an inverse problem in medical imaging and to evaluate uncertainties
- Implementation of the developed method in Python
- Theoretical and practical analysis of the developed method using test problems and comparison with state-of-the-art approaches
- Application of the methods to synthetic and/or real measurement data
Your profile:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in mathematics, statistics, scientific computing or comparable
- Interest in theoretical/mathematical method development and application to real-world problems
- Experience in Python
- Team and communication skills
- German (A2 level) and English (B2 level)
We offer:
- Valuable and complementary practical experience in a leading metrology institute
- Flexible working hours adapted to your studies
- Payment according to a fixed hourly rate
- Employment for an initial period of 6 months with up to 60 hours per month, but no longer than until graduation/exmatriculation
- Holiday entitlement and continued payment of wages in case of illness
- Very good public transport connections
- Free parking for cars, motorcycles and bicycles as well as charging facilities for e-bikes
- Canteen on site
This is important to us:
