What you’ll build

In this role, you will:

  • Coach your senior user experience leaders and experts to bring a user centered product strategy to life
  • Pave the way for your unit’s success by using your value-led, cloud-mindset and strong business acumen
  • Be responsible for delivering end-to-end design assets like UX Visions, User Journeys, C-Suite Presentations, Elevator Pitches and Business Case
  • Steer and run research activities (User-, Polls, Telemetry) that put the user in the center of our actions
  • Use analytics and user types to convey your message in a scientific manner
  • Directly impact the product roadmaps, semester plans and software deliveries
  • Aim to ship code that is usable, accessible and consistent
  • Be aware that the future of software tooling will be deeply connected to the latest technology trends (e.g. Agentic AI) and thus constantly adopt to changes and use that knowledge to invent the futures that others predict

What you bring:

  • Combine strong User Experience Design expertise with a background in (enterprise) software engineering
  • Proven track of leading Design teams and organizations
  • Comfortable working with design systems and understanding how to scale design across products via a preferred UI technology stack
  • Understanding of the urge to provide better onboarding experiences and help our users to reduce their time to task completion
  • Ability to think strategically about how design drives adoption and business results (outcomes)
  • Hands-on and pragmatic mindset when guiding teams toward simple, elegant solutions advocating for the User
  • Knowing design tools and practices like Personas, Journeys, Hero Moments, SUS or PSAT like the back of your hand
  • Empathy for diverse users (from citizen developers to IT professionals and project managers)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently to advocate for design in an engineering-driven environment
  • A growth mindset where you see feedback as fuel and you’re eager to learn, adapt, and help others grow is essential
  • Experience in business strategy, product management or an MBA degree is a plus
  • Experience with low-code/no-code and developer tooling is a plus

You work closely with the Chief Product Owner of SAP Build and her/his engineering and product management leadership team. Your foundational team, however, will be the platform design and experience management leadership team. In this team, we strive together towards an ever-stronger UX org maturity at SAP via strategic initiatives and close alignment with central design semester plans. Your main responsibility will be to coach, guide and steer the work of your teams and advertise their success, deliverables and the outcomes for the users of the software products and service we built.
