Für unseren Kunden in Berlin suchen wir ab sofort einen Virtualization Engineer (m/w/d) KVM, VMware vCenter & Kubernetes/Rancher für den voraussichtlichen Zeitraum bis 06/2025 mit der Option auf langfristige Verlängerung. In diesem großen Greenfield-Projekt kann unter Nutzung moderner Technologien ein Beitrag zur Energiewende geleistet werden. Das Projekt ist als Vollzeitbeschäftigung geplant. Mindestens eine Woche pro Monat findet vor Ort in Berlin statt.

Project Description:
The team is building an internal platform for software product developers to accelerate the development and delivery of software products to tackle the massive challenges facing the energy sector. The Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. The Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and selected public clouds.
Targets in that Position:
- Successful virtualization engineering: The engineer has the knowledge to transfer the specific designs into the target infrastructure environment. The person tests and documents the environment accordingly. The future core virtualization technology will be KVM and Kubernetes/Rancher on top of it. VMware knowledge will be appreciated to support the existing technology stack on-premise.
- The person has the skills to write and prove automated deployments, understanding of pipelines CI/CD to improve, maintain and troubleshoot the build of new environments within defined standards.
- Continuous Improvement and Adaptation: The virtualization engineer actively validates the status of the environment in his responsibility and ensures to keep the configuration on latest standards. The person actively informs his delivery team lead and the architects about required patches and configuration adjustments. The person further reports observations in case configuration does not support the required security standards.
- Effective Collaboration and Communication: The engineer does have the capability to explain technical requirements properly. The person has an open mindset to collaborate within technical alignments.
- Self-Organization: The virtualization engineer has the capability to organize the work handed over according to prioritization and complexity. The person tracks the status and reports actively risks, issues and expected delays. In case further information is required, the person will actively investigate to find the relevant contact and start resolving the issue in line with the project guidelines.
- Integration into processes: The virtualization engineer follows the designed processes to achieve successful work and collaboration as well as detailed documentation.
Must-Have:
- KVM on Ubuntu Linux
- Detailed knowledge about the KVM lifecycle (install, maintain, decommission)
- Very good experience to use and install KVM (virtlib)
- Maintain and automation of KVM
- Kubernetes/Rancher
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and testing purposes
- VMware vSphere knowledge, experience to install, maintain and use VMware vSphere ESXi and vCenter
- Virtualization integration of KVM/vSphere/Kubernetes/Rancher
- Observability solutions
- Linux Systems
- Large-scale and distributed cluster knowledge
- Familiar with basic compute hardware/servers
