Über diesen Job
Help us decarbonize the cement and concrete industry.
alcemy was founded to reduce the massive CO2 footprint of the cement and concrete industry. Concrete is humanity's second most used material by volume and its production is responsible for around 8% of global CO2 emissions.
We are changing this! We leverage machine learning to provide smart production control software to the cement and concrete supply chain to improve efficiency and allow for the production of low-carbon cement and concrete at large scale. Our software is used 24/7 in cement and concrete plants to optimize production and reduce carbon emissions today. We are currently enabling our customers to save more than 100 000 tons of CO2 emissions each year and we aim to save 100 million tons per year in 2030.
The Opportunity
As a Working Student in Frontend Engineering at alcemy, you’ll contribute to improving our product’s usability, maintainability, and data-driven decision-making. Your work will often be independent of the main feature development stream, focusing on platform-level concerns (primarily frontend) such as:
- Refining and standardizing frontend structures to improve code consistency and maintainability.
- Enhancing and harmonizing our component library and patterns
- Supporting and instrumenting our product analytics to reveal how customers interact with our features.
A significant and exciting dimension of this role will be your initiative to explore, experiment with, and apply AI-powered tools within our development lifecycle. We see this as a fantastic opportunity for you to leverage the latest AI methodologies, to enhance both our output capacity and our learnings as a team.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, TailwindCSS
- Backend: Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL
- Platform: Kubernetes on AWS
- Analytics Tools: Posthog
- AI Exploration: An environment supportive of exploring and utilizing relevant AI development tools and platforms.

This position offers unique exposure to both frontend and product engineering domains within a company making a real climate impact. You’ll gain valuable experience in:
- Strengthening the foundations of a modern frontend codebase.
- Designing and maintaining a scalable component and styling system.
- Understanding how product decisions are informed by user behavior.
- Working with contemporary web technologies and agile practices.
- Crucially, you will have the distinct opportunity to actively integrate and champion the professional use of AI in your (and our) day-to-day software engineering tasks, contributing significantly to our team's journey in this exciting field. This role is ideal for someone looking to make a tangible impact by applying AI in a practical, innovative, and non-superficial way.
Requirements
You'd be a great fit if:
- You care about fighting climate change.
- You are a student currently enrolled in Computer Science or a related field at a German university.
- Experience with React & TypeScript development.
- Demonstrable engagement in applying modern AI tools and techniques (e.g., LLMs, code generation tools, AI-assisted analytics) within a software development context.
- A genuine enthusiasm for exploring how AI can practically improve frontend architecture, design systems, and product analytics.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Based in Germany.
Even better:
- Some experience in backend engineering in python is a plus.
Benefits
What we offer:
- A company culture where honesty, professionalism, and integrity run deep with an open feedback culture and regular 1:1 meetings.
