The Cluster Bernkastel consists of 24 hydropower plants at the Moselle, Saar and Eifel rivers. It is currently one of the most profitable business units of RWE Generation SE, producing more then 1.000GWh electricity/a with a team of 100 employees. As Head of O&M Bernkastel d/f/m you will be responsible for all operations, maintenance and site management activities to ensure safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly plant operation. In your role as plant manager you strongly focus on the occupational health and safety of the employees, maximizing availability at an optimal cost level and ensuring our license to operate. The Head of O&M Bernkastel d/f/m leads nine direct reports and reports to the Director Hydro & Storage.

About the role

• Operational Management: Ensure and continuously improve safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation and availability of all assigned hydropower plants within set budgets and regulations.
• Plant Control & Maintenance:Oversee all activities and budgets related to the operation and maintenance of the power plants, including efficient maintenance planning and strategic optimization of plant operations.
• Management Systems & Compliance: Implement and uphold occupational health, safety, environmental, crisis management systems, and legal regulations.
• Leadership & Staff Development: Lead by example to motivate and develop staff, drive change and continuous improvement, ensure knowledge transfer and succession planning
• Stakeholdermanagement: Ensure good relationships with works councils, authorities, and represent company interests externally.
• Collaboration: Closely collaborate with internal departments such as Hydro Asset Management, Engineering & Outage and RWEST to optimize business processes and cost structures.

Job requirements and experience

• University degree in a relevant technical discipline, or comparable qualification, with relevant working experience, preferably in (hydro) power plant operations and/ or maintenance.
• Strong safety mindset and safety role modeling.
• Integrative leader with a hands-on mentality, the ability to inspire, manage and delegate effectively and develop themselves and their people to their full potential.
• Entrepreneurial and strategic thinking with ability to act under conditions of uncertainty.
• Self-motivated to drive the business, increase performance and deliver results paired with ability to lead teams through change processes.
• Strong local presence and willingness to work in an international environment.
• Business fluent in German and English.
