PhD position (f/m/d)
in Cancer Immunology
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a Ph.D. student position in the research group of Johannes Brägelmann at the University Hospital Bonn (UKB), University of Bonn. The Brägelmann lab is committed to improving patient care by studying the evolution and adaptation processes of tumors. We combine functional genomics, experimental models, and computational biology to investigate how cancers and their immune-microenvironment respond to specific mutations or treatments, aiming to design personalized therapeutic strategies (Brägelmann et al., Nature Comm 2021; Brägelmann et al., Hepatology 2021; Müller, … Brägelmann, Can Res 2023). In the specific project we will investigate how modifying cell death pathways following cancer treatment reshapes tumor-immune interactions in lung and squamous cell cancers. The overall aim is to identify novel combination therapies that improve anti-tumor immunity and treatment efficacy. Candidates will work with human samples, in vitro and in vivo models applying classical molecular biology and immunological methods but also cutting-edge technologies such as imaging flowcytometry and single-cell sequencing. Candidates with experience in immunology, molecular or cell biology are therefore specifically encouraged to apply. Experience with in vivo work or computational biology is a plus.
The position is to be filled for the duration of the doctorate until 14.09.2028.
