Senior Java Engineer (m/f/d)

Strengthen our Engineering Team in full-time (40 hrs./week) as Senior Java Engineer (m/f/d) within Germany or UK remotely or at one of our office locations.

This role focuses on building and maintaining front-end and backend services, designing SQL queries, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance academic planning tools.

• Java, React/TypeScript, MarkLogic, Camunda, AWS, Docker, DataDog, GitLab

Your tasks

• Build and maintain applications focusing on academic data and module handbooks.
• Debug multi-stack distributed system running on both JVM and Node.js.
• Reverse-engineer legacy application to understand and fix user pain points.
• Design and implement robust SQL queries and data models to drive planning intelligence.
• Use Linux command tools to tackle occasional tasks related to deployment / maintenance.
• Collaborate deeply with product managers, product owners, tech leads, and other stakeholders to shape the future of our planning tools.

Your Profile

• Deep expertise in Java and React/TypeScript, with a strong focus on React.
• Solid knowledge of SQL, includes hands-on experience in complex data modeling and query optimization.
• Proven adaptability and curiosity; comfortable navigating uncharted territory and handling incomplete requirements.
• Independent, goal-oriented, and structured way of working.
• Strong team spirit and excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
