Payload Project Manager (m/f/d)
Your Tasks
- Define the payload scope in close coordination with the customer, overall project management, and company leadership, ensuring full alignment
- Approve and maintain the requirements baseline, ensuring all developed, manufactured, tested, and delivered items meet the agreed technical specifications
- Define, implement end execute the project schedule and cost baseline for the payload setup and take full ownership of delivering the subproject on time and within budget
- Plan, secure, and balance internal resources, ensuring that skills and capacity match workload demands, and escalate any gaps or risks early
- Establish the team structure, assign clear ownership of milestones and deliverables, and lead both internal progress reviews and joint reviews with the prime contractor and customer
- Ensure effective cross-functional execution (mechanical, electrical, software, AIT, quality, supply chain etc.) through clear work orders, defined interfaces, and seamless handovers
- Monitor and control of technical maturity, schedule, cost, and quality, proactively managing risks and issues, and implementing recovery plans when required
- Provide regular, concise status updates, forecasts, and risk assessments to stakeholders, maintaining up-to-date minutes of meetings, action logs, and dashboards
- Control configuration and baselines, evaluating and approving any change with impact on scope, cost, or schedule
Your Qualifications
- Studies in a relevant engineering discipline (degree in aerospace technology or comparable qualification)
- Technical and methodological competence in project management methods and several years of relevant practical experience as a project manager (m/f/d) or subcontractor manager (m/f/d) of complex subcontracts
- Proven skills in professional and ideally also disciplinary team leadership
- Very good understanding of the relevant standards and processes
- Very good economic understanding and high ability to balance and prioritize between quality, costs and schedule
- Very good communication skills, negotiation skills, decision-making skills and conflict resolution skills
- Strong skills in motivation, delegation, knowledge transfer and network building
- Very good analytical skills and presentation skills
- High willingness to travel
