This role is part of Landis+Gyr’s EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) business, which is expected to become an independent company under new ownership by mid-2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Join our Swiss Engineering Team as a technically skilled ICT Application Manager . You will take ownership of our applications and work hands-on with the software – from troubleshooting issues to analyzing database entries and understanding application behavior and become the go-to expert for our customers. As their first point of contact, you’ll tackle operational challenges, deliver smart solutions, and ensure smooth operations in line with our service agreements.
What are your main responsibilities?
- Take full ownership of any Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) application issues reported – remote on-premise or cloud (SaaS), drive them to resolution and coordinate with L2/L3 experts if needed.
- Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis, apply short-term solution and long-term improvements that make a difference.
- Collaborate closely with our Hardware Support Team when software and device interactions become complex.
- Ensure seamless customer communication across multiple internal support levels functions and sites.
- Drive application maintenance (e.g. software updates and migrations) for live customer environments.
- Support large-scale AMI projects in conceptual and technical matters.
- Convert your ideas into "Best Practices” guidelines to enhance and evolve our service portfolio – together with Product Management, Service Design, and Engineering.
- Analyze application processes at software level – understand how use-cases are executed and impact on system components (database, queues, interfaces).
- Investigate process anomalies on logfile and database level and develop mitigation actions (scripts, data corrections).
- Perform SQL queries and scripts to monitor and validate data flows, business logic and interfaces.
- Collaborate with development and engineering teams to debug application logic and propose fixes or improvements.
- Optimize system component configurations in large systems for high performance and big data through in-depth system architecture know-how.
What helps you succeed?
- A technical degree (e.g., BSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) or equivalent hands-on experience (e.g., IT specialist EFZ).
- Strong background in technical customer support, application management, or systems integration.
- Solid skills in database queries (Oracle PL/SQL), Windows Server administration and scripting (PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
- Experience with telecommunications, measurement devices, or infrastructure monitoring is a plus.
- A solution-driven mindset, with the curiosity to understand complex systems and the skill to resolve them effectively.
- Structured, independent and hands-on working style – you enjoy solving problems.
- Fluent in German and English (spoken and written); French is a plus.
- A team player who brings confidence and clarity into customer interactions – especially when things get tricky.
