We’re seeking a pragmatic Lead Software Engineer (Full-Stack, Python-first) to help one of Europe’s fastest-growing legal tech companies scale its software platform end to end. Our AI-powered products are already in market; now we need robust, extensible architecture and impeccable execution to support rapid growth and new feature velocity.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll own critical services and user-facing features across the stack while guiding implementation standards. You’ll stay hands-on while mentoring teammates, enforcing code quality, and driving technical decisions that keep our systems secure, observable, and performant at scale.

Your Challenge and Opportunity in This Role

This is a rare opportunity to define how a rapidly expanding product is architected, shipped, and maintained. As our Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be both system designer and senior IC—translating complex requirements into elegant, reliable software. You’ll establish patterns for scalability (from modular service boundaries to CI/CD pipelines), ensure our Python services are battle-tested in production, and elevate engineering standards across teams. Expect real ownership, deep technical problem-solving, and the chance to influence how our platform evolves across markets and use cases.

Tasks

Strategy & Implementation:

• Architect and implement robust scalable solutions for our product suite
• Design and develop sophisticated systems
• Establish best practices for software development, testing, and deployment across products
• Initially handle development across the stacks as a core technical contributor

Technical Leadership:

• Initially handle development hands-on as the primary technical contributor
• Work with our Head of Engineering to build a high-performing team as our initiatives expand
• Maintain significant hands-on coding involvement even while leading the team

Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with product, design, and AI Engineers to release new features
• Partner with the Head of Engineering and leadership on Engineering roadmap planning
• Translate complex software concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

Technical Expertise:

• Production-scale Python and Django knowledge and clean architecture.
• Front-end experience with Vue 3 or React
• Production knowledge with scaling software
• Rigorous testing: pytest, integration/e2e (Cypress), contract tests.
• Automation-first: CI/CD (GitHub), Docker, IaC (Terraform).
• Data layer mastery: PostgreSQL tuning, Redis caching, queues/streams (RabbitMQ/Kafka).
• API design & maintenance: REST/GraphQL, versioning, documentation.
• Security by default: OWASP, OAuth/OIDC/JWT, GDPR-aware data handling.

Leadership Skills:

• Ability to work independently as the primary technical contributor handling all aspects of development
• Comfort with hands-on coding and technical work even after building a team
• Experience mentoring and developing technical talent
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Strategic Vision:

• Ability to create and execute Software roadmaps aligned with business objectives
• Strong communicator/mentor; aligns engineering trade-offs with product goals.

Requirements:

• You must be located in the CET -2/+2 zone for this role!
• You must have at least 4 years of experience with Django
• You must have at least 4 years of professional experience as a Lead
