For REWE digital Spain, a subsidiary of REWE Group, located in the Technological Park of Andalusia (PTA) in Malaga we are looking for a Software Developer . They will join the Product Layout Management team and will support us in the creation of the Store Layouting business area. Store Layouting comprises the overall concept and division/sizing of the sales areas or sections within a store including the design and placement of merchandise on the shelves, as well as the presentation and arrangement of items (groups).
As the central solution provider for information and telecommunications systems we plan, develop, configure, and operate efficient systems and applications for the REWE Group, one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany and Europe with around 390,000 employees .
Our team of more than 2,200 IT specialists sets standards for IT implementation in the retail industry and develops new technologies for the sector. Today, we manage more than 80 logistics centers and more than 23,000 local network connections to ensure the continuous supply of data to the 32,000 scanner checkout counters in more than 7,300 stores.
The Database Technologies product delivers stable, optimized, and user-friendly database services (DBaaS) for our stakeholders, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server. The team supports SQL Server environments and continuously enhances systems in line with security and industry standards, regularly evaluating new SQL Server technologies and tools in partnership with other teams.
What you will do:
- You will perform administrative tasks, ensuring that Microsoft SQL Server are properly installed, configured, and maintained for optimal performance.
- You will participate in the planning and execution of changes to the database server infrastructure, continuously improving its functionality and efficiency.
- You will constantly monitor the capacity and performance of database systems to anticipate potential improvements and ensure stability.
- You will ensure that established standards and methods are followed, promoting best practices in all database operations.
- You will review and implement security guidelines to protect data and ensure compliance with security protocols. Communication with Stakeholders and Product Teams: You will maintain effective communication with stakeholders and other product teams, ensuring that the needs of all participants are met.
- Technical Support: You will provide support in troubleshooting and performance tuning to stakeholders, ensuring that databases run smoothly.
- You will create and update relevant technical documentation to ensure that all critical information is accessible and clear to the team.
- You will stay abreast of new technologies and trends in the field of databases to integrate innovations where possible.
- On-Call Availability: You will participate in regular on-call shifts, providing ongoing technical support after a comprehensive induction process.
What you will bring:
- Database Administration Experience: Several years working in database administration, including installations, upgrades, and migrations.
- Complex Problem Solving: Ability to understand and resolve problems effectively with a solution-oriented approach.
- Technical Knowledge: Experience in Windows system administration, building and maintaining high-availability solutions, and working with tools such as Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or Microsoft Azure.
- Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile approaches to working flexibly and adaptively in teams.
- Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
- Academic Background: Degree in computer science or equivalent qualification.
- English Proficiency: Excellent command of English for internal communication.
- Residence in Spain: Residence and work permit in Spain without the need for sponsorship.
