Our client, a leading crypto market-making firm, is expanding its operations by establishing a new team dedicated to energy trading. They are setting up an energy trading desk in Prague, which represents an exciting startup initiative within their well-established organization.

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer / Tech Lead who is passionate about joining this new team and making a meaningful impact in this dynamic and evolving field. As an individual contributor, you will be hands-on in coding and building on top of their existing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Data Integration: Create and manage data pipelines to gather market data from trading venues (like EEX, EPEX, NordPool) and important data from Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and data providers.
• Trading System Development: Build the first version of market connectors and trading algorithms using existing tools (like manual-trader) for trading in energy markets.
• Automation: Improve trading operations, including scheduling and other tasks to make processes smoother.

Requirements

• Versatile Skills: Comfortable handling a wide range of tasks, from basic DevOps to data engineering and algorithm design
• Entrepreneurial Spirit: Possess good business sense, eagerness to learn quickly, and enthusiasm for building solutions from scratch.
• Strong Ownership: Self-driven and proactive, capable of managing projects from start to finish.
• Individual Contributor: Must be willing to start a new team from scratch on top of existing infrastructure.
• Rust Proficiency: Core business is built in Rust, so we are looking for someone willing to learn and become proficient in this language.
• System Reliability: Familiar with how critical and reliable systems need to be, especially in trading environments.
• Startup Mindset: Beyond a strong technical background, we need someone who can navigate challenges, understand the complexities of a startup, and effectively manage expectations on both sides.
• Energy Experience: While a background in energy is not required, the candidate should be willing to learn and immerse themselves in the energy sector.
