About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance System Administrator to support our IT infrastructure in Dresden. The role is initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension, depending on performance and project needs.

You will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of our Linux and Windows-based systems, as well as managing VMware environments and firewall administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux and Windows servers

• Manage virtual environments using VMware ESXi / vSphere

• Configure and maintain network firewalls and security policies

• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues

• Implement system upgrades, patches, and backups

• Monitor system performance and ensure system availability

• Document system configurations and processes

• Collaborate with internal teams to support ongoing IT needs

Requirements

• Proven experience as a System Administrator (minimum 3-5 years)

• Strong knowledge of Linux (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Server environments

• Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization

• Solid understanding of firewall configuration and network security

• Fluent German (C1 or native) - essential for team and client communication
