In the context of an ongoing tender procedure, GIZ International Services is looking for a Gas Transportation System (GTS) Technical Expert (m/f/d) for the EU-funded project "Support to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy on Renewable Gas Policy and evaluation of Gas Infrastructure" in Ukraine.

The overall objective to which this action contributes is to enhance Ukraine’s energy security and independence while supporting the implementation of reforms in Ukraine’s energy sector in accordance with the EU’s energy acquis and Ukraine’s commitments under the Energy Community Treaty, including obligations for the candidate country.

Qualifications and skills

Minimum requirements:

• At least a Master degree in Engineering (mechanical, chemical, materials, petroleum, or energy engineering) or a bachelor degree in the same field(s) plus at least 880 full-time working days of relevant professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of EU and international technical standards applicable to gas and hydrogen transmission (ISO, EN, CEN/TC 234).
• Advanced English language skills of at least C1 (understanding, speaking, writing in accordance with CEFR) required.
• Asset: A good command of Ukrainian of at least level B2 (understanding, speaking, writing in accordance with CEFR).

General professional experience

Minimum requirements:

• At least 1.100 full-time working days of professional engineering experience in the gas transmission sector, such as pipeline systems, compressor stations, metering equipment or gas treatment systems.

Specific professional experience

Minimum requirements:

• At least 1.100 full-time working days of experience in implementing projects for the EU gas Transmission System Operator (TSO) such as material compatibility assessments and gas pipeline or compressor station adaptation.
• Proven practical experience in conducting technical audits for the EU Gas TSO covering pipeline integrity, compressor station safety and compliance with EU technical standards.
• Asset: Experience in implementing project(s) in the Ukrainian gas sector.
• Asset: Experience in a gas-to-hydrogen pipeline repurposing project or pipeline hydrogen readiness researching project.
