Functional Goal:
Responsible for IP strategy for a selection of biosimilar products, reporting to Senior Vice President Patents, Biopharma.
Main Tasks:
Responsible for the global IP strategy for several biosimilar products at various stages in development and launch.
Manage and participate in patent challenge work including patent litigation, oppositions, and patent-linkage proceedings.
Draft Freedom to Operate (FTO) opinions and monitor & organise competitor IP landscapes.
Work closely with cross‐functional project teams to guide the design of biosimilar products, formulations and manufacturing processes having FTO.
Collaborate in aligning the strategies of IP, regulatory, supply and commercial to devise routes to key markets.
Other Tasks:
Devise life cycle management and creative IP strategies for biosimilar assets, including capturing patentable inventions, drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Assist in due diligence and licensing deals.
Support the professional development of junior IP attorneys and provide training to non-IP professionals.
Manage prosecution of patent portfolio covering inventions in the biopharma field and injection device field.

Qualification profile:
European Patent Attorney,
At least 10 years’ experience working in intellectual property,
BSc Degree in the field of Medical Sciences,
PhD in Life Sciences is desirable.
A clear presentation style. Able to distil complex IP issues and extract key facts and advice to communicate to management.
Attention to detail. Willing to get into the details of the prior art and inventions and to build technical expertise in these areas.
A team player. Strong interpersonal skills; enjoys working closely with non-IP professionals to support the interplay between IP and various aspects of the business.
Creative and strategic. Motivated to challenge the norms in the new and evolving IP world of biosimilars.
