Who we are:
With several hundred thousand servers, Hetzner is one of the largest web hosting and data center operators in Europe. We offer our customers self-developed high-tech products and reliable infrastructure at fair prices. Over 500 employees work daily to shape the digital future and provide our customers with simple, efficient solutions to complex problems.
Do you want to ensure systems run smoothly and identify vulnerabilities before they become problems? Then join our team as a DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) in Observability at our locations in Falkenstein/Vogtland or Nuremberg! Using modern tools like OpenSearch, Thanos, and OpenTelemetry, you will further develop our monitoring and logging infrastructure and support our development teams in operating complex systems transparently and reliably.
These tasks await you:
- Responsibility for the design, implementation and operation of our "Observability Tools”
- Support and further development of our distributed systems for logging, metrics and tracing based on OpenSearch, Thanos and OpenTelemetry
- Ensuring the scalability, performance and high availability of the critical observability infrastructure
- Collaborate with development teams to define and implement monitoring, logging, and tracing requirements
- Error analysis and resolution of complex technical problems in production environments
- Further development of Kubernetes operators (also open source)
- Further expansion of internal tooling
This is how you impress us:
- Completed studies in computer science, a comparable education or relevant professional experience
- In-depth knowledge of DevOps methods and tools (CI/CD, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, IaC such as Terraform or Ansible/Puppet)
- Expertise in observability, especially with OpenSearch (or Elasticsearch), Thanos, Jaeger and OpenTelemetry
- Practical experience in administering and scaling OpenSearch clusters, including index management, sharding, and performance optimization
- Secure use of Prometheus and Thanos to collect and aggregate metrics across multiple clusters
- Good understanding of OpenTelemetry and its use to standardize traces, metrics and logs
- Good communication skills in German and English as well as a team-oriented approach
- Experience in debugging Thanos is an advantage
