Your role: The holder (all genders) of this position is responsible for a coating lab specialized on optics, application technology and color science topics for the Susonity group. The lab head (all genders) provides expertise in e.g. coatings application, color measurement, color science and the use of effect pigments in automotive paint. In addition, the lab supports customer activities and supports the development of natural-appearing color representation on displays. For this important role, the candidate needs to develop new skills in the team and supports internal interfaces and conducts customer projects.

The holder (all genders) of this position combines scientific physical view and leadership in internal and external projects with e.g. Sales, Technical Service, R&D or QC/QA. As the coatings lab offers specialized measurement capabilities, the lab head (all genders) identifies new methods to actual needs of customers and the Susonity organization and to generate deeper understanding. The use of artificial intelligence, relevant statistical methods, lab automation and databases and a result-driven mindset complement the candidate’s profile.

Additionally, the position requires skills for running efficient lab processes, business acumen, willingness to decide and experience to lead a highly specialized expert team.

Experience in color development in coatings industry, with and/or without effect pigments as well as knowledge about state-of-the-art coatings application technology would be a plus. Who you are:

• Background in Optical Physics and/or Color Science (Bachelor or Master Physics, Optics or related fields)
• Professional experience in e.g. coatings and/or color development of min. 3 years
• Leadership experience preferred
• Successful conclusion of projects
• Quick understanding for new topics
• Curious to extend knowledge on different technologies
• Eager to drive the digitization process forward
• Strong teamwork, self-organized, problem-solving capability, purposeful, reliable
• Good communication skills within a global environment
• German language proficient, English fluent needed for possible customer / interface visits, also abroad
