At CHAMELAION, we aim to shape the future of AI-driven media with a bold vision: to build an advanced AI platform that revolutionizes video production and makes video content universally accessible.
Based in Germany (Frankfurt), we recently launched our innovative video translation platform and have successfully secured our second funding round. We're now looking for an ambitious Data Engineer (Working Student) to join our dynamic team and help drive our mission forward.
Tasks
We're looking for a highly motivated Data Engineer (Working Student) who is passionate about building data pipelines, data scraping, and shaping the datasets of our proprietary deep learning models. You will:
- Scrape large-scale video and audio data
- Build and maintain robust ETL pipelines for processing and transforming multimodal data (video, audio, text, metadata)
- Implement automated workflows for data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing
- Work with cloud storage solutions and databases to store and manage large datasets efficiently
- Collaborate with the ML team to provide well-structured datasets for model training
- Monitor data quality and ensure consistency across different data sources
Requirements
Who You Are:
We're looking for exceptional individuals who combine technical excellence with ethical awareness, who are excited by hard problems and motivated by human impact. You’ll thrive with us if you are:
- Currently enrolled in a (later-stage) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Solid programming experience in Python (e.g., using libraries like pandas, requests, BeautifulSoup and ffmpeg)
- Familiar with ETL pipelines and working with large datasets
- Experience or interest in web scraping, APIs, and handling multimedia data (video/audio)
- Basic knowledge of databases, data structures, and data processing workflows
- Experience with relevant cloud technologies, especially Google Cloud (e.g., Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Compute Instances)
- Experience of containerization (Docker)
- Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies (e.g., Git Flow)
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and collaborate in a small, agile team
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
