Hello, we’re PHONT, an innovative startup based in Frankfurt. Our vision is to bring subtitles to life and to reimagine a tool that hasn’t been changed for a hundred years. We’re doing this by integrating sound-based information, such as emotions and soundbites into the subtitle itself through customized design elements We are currently seeking a Frontend Developer Intern who is passionate about frontend development and eager to contribute to our product vision.

• Develop & refine the frontend using Next.js, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS.
• Implement smooth, complex animations for subtitles (CSS or other libraries).
• Work on interactive UI components for subtitle editing and customization.
• (optional) Collaborate on full-stack features (Node.js, Python) if interested.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong frontend skills with Next.js, TypeScript
• Experience with CSS animations or animation libraries
• Knowledge of state management, API integration, and performance optimization
• Knowledge of version control tools (e.g., Git) and agile development processes.
• A keen eye for design and familiarity with tools like Figma, XD or Illustrator.

Nice-to-haves (not required):

• Experience with video processing & playback optimizations in the browser
• Ability to contribute to full-stack development (Node.js, Python)
• Experience with building video-platforms and rendering
• Knowledge of Azure or other cloud platforms
