About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of AML / MLRO to join AllUnity as our designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer under German law. You will serve as the institution’s primary point of contact for regulators, holding ultimate responsibility for the effectiveness of AllUnity’s AML/CTF and Sanctions program.
This is a strategic leadership position where you will:
- Define and execute AllUnity’s AML/CTF strategy in alignment with BaFin, GwG, and MiCAR requirements.
- Oversee AML risk analysis, internal controls, and regulatory reporting.
- Serve as the escalation point for high-risk cases, SAR approvals, and submissions to FIU.
- Advise the Management Board on AML/CTF risks and provide expert training and guidance across the organization.
- Ensure regulatory compliance while enabling AllUnity’s growth in blockchain-based financial services.
Tasks
- Strategic AML Leadership: Define, own, and continuously evolve AllUnity’s AML/CTF and Sanctions strategy.
- AML Risk Assessment: Lead the enterprise-wide AML risk assessment, implement methodologies, and ensure appropriate risk coverage.
- Policies & Procedures: Implement AML/CTF governance documents, internal policies, and frameworks.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Ensure compliance framework is aligned with evolving BaFin, MiCAR, and international AML standards.
- Monitor Transactions: review blockchain activity, investigate alerts, and escalate risks;
- Internal Controls: Approve, oversee, and assess the effectiveness of AML/CTF internal controls.
- Suspicious Activity Reporting (SARs): Review, approve, and file SARs with the German FIU (GoAML).
- Oversee Business due diligence BKYC: ensure compliant customer onboarding and ongoing monitoring under Germany Anti-Money Laundering Laws (GwG);
- AML Reporting: Ensure timely, accurate AML/CTF reporting to regulators and the Board.
- Training & Awareness: Act as subject matter expert, approving AML training curriculum and delivering training to management and staff.
- Substitution & Oversight: Ensure continuity of AML function by leading the AML team.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, Economics, or other relevant fields.
- Experience: 8+ years in AML/CTF compliance within financial services, fintech, crypto, or payments.
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong knowledge of BaFin AML requirements, GwG obligations, and MiCAR regulatory framework.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead AML teams, oversee compliance programs, and engage with regulators at senior levels.
- Languages: Fluent German (Native/C2) and English (C2).
- Skills: Strong analytical judgment, precision in risk assessment, and the ability to balance compliance and business needs.
Ideal Candidate May Also Have:
- Certifications: ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent in AML/CTF, Sanctions, or Blockchain Forensics (Elliptic, Chainalysis).
- Hands-on experience with SAR filings in Germany (GoAML).
- Deep understanding of blockchain applications: stablecoins, smart contracts, Layer 2 protocols, EVM networks.
- Experience in fast-paced fintech or regulated financial institutions.
