Main responsibilities:
- Lab Scientist of a downstream laboratory for purification of molecules derived from microbial fermentation processes – like Nanobody® molecules.
- position reports to Lab Head DSP.
- Must work independently in the lab to develop purification and ultrafiltration technologies (chromatography; TFF) that enables biologics to reach the quantity and quality standards to meet clinical demands and commercial manufacturing
- Independently carry out analytical methods (i.e., HPLC methods) to determine the quality of the chromatographic fractions
- Drive the implementation of new techniques in the field of chromatography and ultrafiltration, modelling and continuous manufacturing in the microbial platform
- Support maintenance and acquisition of new equipment
- Dutifully document and provide scientific input on experimental results in a timely manner
- Liaise with a multidisciplinary team for analytical sample transfers and trouble- shooting of methods and issues intrinsic to downstream processes
- Support tech transfer activities
- Readiness to support other Microbial Platform areas if needed (Clinical Trial Manufacturing; non-GMP Pilot Plant), for instance as a person-in-plant to facilitate scale-up of downstream processes
- Support Sanofi digital transformation and eco-footprint reduction goals
- Maintaining Sanofi HSE standard and ensuring laboratory compliance
- On occasion, present results in conferences or internal seminars
About you
Education and professional Experience
- Master’s Degree in natural science (chemical engineering, biological engineering, bioinformatics, biotechnology, biochemistry)
Soft skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Result-oriented and well-organized team player in an agile environment
Technical skills
- Min. 2 years practical experience with TFF, preparative chromatography, bioanalytical instrumentation
- Experience in protein purification and process development
- Beneficial: common programming languages (R, Python); understanding of data extraction from databases
Languages
- Excellent written and oral English language skills
- At least good written and oral German language skills
