Overview
Our Tier 1 consulting client is seeking an experienced
SAP VIM (Vendor Invoice Management) Subject Matter Expert
to support a major multi-region
S/4HANA transformation programme
, with initial deployments across the United States and Japan.
This is a long-term engagement, fully remote, offering an opportunity to play a key role in shaping end-to-end Accounts Payable and invoice automation processes in a complex, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Functional Leadership
Lead the SAP VIM solution design within the broader S/4HANA finance workstream.
Define functional requirements, configuration, and integration touchpoints with SAP FI, MM, and OCR solutions.
Ensure VIM design aligns with global template standards while accommodating US and Japanese localisation needs.
Provide expert guidance on workflow design, exception handling, approvals, and compliance requirements.
Project Delivery & Rollout
Support the end-to-end rollout lifecycle: design, build, testing, cutover, hypercare, and stabilisation .
Work closely with regional teams to tailor VIM processes for the US and Japan business environments.
Assist with migrating existing invoice management processes into the new S/4HANA VIM solution.
Participate in integration testing (SIT/UAT), defect resolution, and quality assurance.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with finance, procurement, offshore teams, and global process owners.
Act as the primary functional SME for all VIM-related queries, escalations, and decision-making.
Provide clear documentation, functional specifications, and user guidance.
Knowledge Transfer & Support
Deliver training and knowledge transfer to business and IT teams.
Support cutover planning, go-live preparation, and post-go-live hypercare.
Contribute to continuous improvement and optimisation of VIM processes across regions.
Skills & Experience Required
5+ years of hands-on SAP VIM experience , including configuration, workflow, and integration.
Strong background in SAP S/4HANA Finance and related AP processes.
Experience delivering VIM in global rollout programmes —ideally including US or APAC regions.
Deep understanding of invoice automation, OCR, and AP best practices.
Ability to work across multiple time zones in a complex, multinational environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner with business and technical teams.
English speaking (mandatory).
Nice to Have
Experience with Japanese compliance, tax, or localisation requirements.
Exposure to OpenText ecosystem beyond VIM (e.g., xECM).
Prior experience working with Tier 1 consulting partners.
