As we continue to grow and advance our technological capabilities, we are seeking a talented Senior Hardware Engineering Manager to join our R&D department based in Geneva. In this role, you will lead our multidisciplinary team of 10+ engineers specializing in electronic, nanofabrication, FPGA, and mechanical design . In this critical leadership role, you will drive the development of cutting-edge systems at the intersection of physics, engineering, and quantum technologies.

Your primary mission is to lead and inspire the Hardware team in the development of robust, highquality, innovative, reliable, production-ready hardware solutions—on time and to specifications . You will also drive technical strategies, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration with external partners including academic labs, research institutes, and innovation centers.

In this role, you ensure that engineering execution aligns with business objectives, customer needs, and technical excellence.

Key functions and responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for electronic, nanofabrication, FPGA, and mechanical development.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical excellence
• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of hardware development projects.
• Allocate resources effectively, manage priorities, and ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methods. Promote best practices in hardware development, design reviews, validation, and risk management.
• Define and manage project plans (in close collaboration with project managers), resource allocation, risk mitigation strategies, and execution tracking.
• Drive and enforce robust engineering practices, including peer reviews, design validation, and quality control.
• Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. Systems, Software, Production, Product Management) to align hardware development with broader product and technology goals.
• Act as the primary point of contact for technical collaboration with external partners—including academic institutions and innovation partners—to integrate emerging technologies.
• Contribute to the long-term technology roadmap by identifying innovation opportunities in quantum hardware and related systems.

Desired skills and experience

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field, Degree in management is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in hardware development, with at least 3 years in technical leadership or management role.
• Proven track record delivering complex, multi-domain systems (FPGA, analog/digital electronics, mechanical assemblies) in a high-tech or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and grow engineering teams.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver under tight timelines.
• Experience collaborating with external research and innovation ecosystems (academic labs, public/private R&D partnerships).
• Knowledge of reliability engineering, thermal/EMI design, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CE, FCC, IEC, etc.).
• Familiarity with hardware development tools and environments: Altium, SolidWorks, VHDL/Verilog, simulation and test equipment.
• Experience in space project development is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Self-starter, organized, able to work independently, positive, and eager to learn and deliver.
• Team-player with a strong interest in working in an Agile environment with a high level of interaction.
• Good English spoken and written (C1 level).
