Our laboratory is dedicated to developing cutting-edge fluorescent probes that target chromatin components for advanced super-resolution microscopy. We investigate how the spatial organization of chromosomes and specific DNA sequences within the nucleus influences gene expression by visualizing nuclear architecture combining molecular biology, biochemistry, and super-resolution imaging methods

This interdisciplinary project offers an exciting opportunity to investigate protein–nucleic acid interactions within the cell nucleus and uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying global chromatin organization. The successful candidate will work with a diverse range of techniques, including biochemical assays, long-read sequencing and super-resolution microscopy. The project’s focus will be shaped to align with the candidate’s expertise and research interests, providing room for creativity and scientific growth in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Applicants should hold/soon expect a PhD degree in area of the life sciences (molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology), and have initial experience in biochemistry, molecular biology or fluorescence microscopy methods.

Candidates should be passionate about science, curiosity-driven, self-motivated, and eager to work in an international and multi-disciplinary team. Furthermore, the successful candidate will collaborate with other national/international research groups and will be encouraged to attend international workshops and meetings.

Position details

The position should be filled as soon as possible; the exact start date is flexible. The Postdoc position will be funded for two years (with a possibility of extension). Payment and benefits are based on the German Public Service Payscale (TVöD Bund) guidelines.
