Junior Research Group Leader in
Ecological Novelty
starting as soon as possible. The Dorothea Schlözer-Programme was founded in 2009 to promote equal opportunities and diversity at the Göttingen campus. The position is funded by resources from the programme for female professors by the German federal and state governments. The aim of the programme is to increase the proportion of women in academic leadership positions. The call for applications is therefore exclusively addressed to women. The position is limited to six years, with a mid-term evaluation after three years. The salary follows the TV-L E14 (100%) pay band.
The position will help the post holder acquire the skills and experience necessary for a future professorship. Coaching and support in career development will be offered via the Dorothea Schlözer-Programme .
Successful candidates need to have a doctoral degree in a relevant field. We seek candidates with an outstanding research track record in the fields of global change biology, ecology, biodiversity conservation, sustainability science or related fields. We seek enthusiastic individuals with the vision and leadership capacity to develop an internationally recognized research program. This will address emerging global challenges, especially fast and profound perturbations and disruptions driven e.g. by climate and land-use change, pandemics, geopolitical transformations, and human migration, and the resilience and adaptive capacity of ecosystems and biodiversity. We expect collaboration with other research groups at the faculty, at the University of Göttingen and beyond, involvement into collaborative funding applications, and a commitment to promoting a positive, diverse and inclusive institutional culture. The successful candidate will actively contribute to teaching in the degree programs BSc Biodiversity and Ecology, MSc Biodiversity: Ecology, Evolution and Conservation, and the Master of International Nature Conservation (MINC). These programs are characterized by unique profiles at the national level and attract a very high number of applicants.
We offer an attractive position in a vibrant research environment at one of Germany-s most reputable universities. The position of the Junior Research Group Leader is equipped with an additional position for a researcher (TV-L E13, 50%), an independent annual budget, and start-up funding . Administrative support and lab access will be provided.
The University of Göttingen provides excellent collaboration opportunities across the Biology and Psychology, Agriculture and Forestry faculties. The successful candidate will join the interdisciplinary Department of Conservation Biology focused on global change, biodiversity conservation and human-environment relations. The position is also embedded in the Campus Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use (CBL).
