At the University of Greifswald’s Department of Finnish and Scandinavian Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a job vacancy in the Finnish language teaching unit that is expected to be available from 1 January 2026 , subject to budgetary regulations, for a full-time
Teaching Associate .
The position on offer is permanent and suitable for part-time employment. Payment will be made in accordance with pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft .
Job description:
- Providing services primarily in teaching language classes at the Finnish language teaching unit in accordance with LVVO M-V (currently planned: 16 classes à 45 min. per week)
- Finnish language and culture classes at levels A1-C1 in both the B.A. degree course "Finnish Studies" and the Finnish modules belonging to the M.A. degree course "Language Diversity”, as well as the "Optional Studies” section of bachelor degree courses at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- Administrative and organisational tasks in the running of the Department
- Participation in the organisation of cultural and academic events, as well as maintaining corresponding professional relations with Finland and the Finnish Embassy
Job requirements:
- On commencement of employment, a completed university degree (master’s or equivalent degrees) with Finnish language as a major.
- On commencement of employment, completed teaching degree that entitles the holder to work as a teacher in the country in which the qualification was completed
- Native-speaker or native-speaker equivalent proficiency in Finnish
- German language skills at B1 level
- English language skills B1
Desirable:
- Experience and qualifications in the field of Finnish culture and cultural mediation
