Über diesen Job

At Sunday, we fuel hybrid-casual games by developing and marketing fun, easy-to-play mobile games that consistently top the charts and generate hundreds of millions of downloads globally. Our talented team of developers, artists, designers, and marketers work together to build games that are easy to jump into but hard to put down, striking the perfect balance between enjoyment and monetization. As proud members of the applike group, our primary focus is on leveraging their cutting-edge advertising technology to deliver smart, player-friendly monetization and contribute to a thriving mobile ecosystem. Supported by Bertelsmann, Europe's largest media company, we are equipped with the resources to push the boundaries of the mobile gaming space. Join us as we continue to shape the future of hybrid-casual gaming.

To support this transition, we are looking for an Art Lead who can establish a strong artistic vision while remaining hands-on in production. You will play a key role in shaping the artistic direction of our portfolio, refining our art pipelines, and ensuring consistency and quality across our games.

As an Art Lead, you will collaborate closely with Product, Growth/Marketing, and Development teams to create a cohesive and scalable visual identity for our titles. You will also take ownership of key visual decisions while working with external and internal artists to push our games to the next level.

What you will do:

  • Guide and mentor external and internal artists, providing clear feedback and maintaining quality standards.
  • Define and implement the visual direction for new and existing games, ensuring a consistent and engaging player experience.
  • Actively contribute to asset creation, including characters, environments, UI, and animations, to maintain a high-quality standard.
  • Establish and optimize art pipelines to improve efficiency and scalability, ensuring smooth integration into Unity. As
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Developers, and Marketers to align the visual style with gameplay, monetization, and user engagement strategies.
  • Tailor visual ambition to game type – Understand what level of visual quality and investment is needed depending on genre, monetization model, and lifecycle stage (e.g. prototype vs live ops; hyper vs hybrid).
  • Ensure art production is efficient and fits within the performance constraints of mobile platforms.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously enhance the artistic quality of our games.

Who you are:

  • Strong experience as a game artist, with a focus on mobile game development.
  • A track record of successfully shipping mobile games, ideally in the casual or hybrid space.
  • Proficiency in key tools such as Photoshop, Unity, Blender. 70% of the role would be hands on.
  • A deep understanding of mobile performance constraints and optimization techniques for textures, shaders, and assets.
  • Experience in building and managing art pipelines, working with both internal and external artists.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance visual excellence with ROI – Knows when polish pays off and when speed or simplicity matter more.
  • A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and iterative development environment.
  • Passion for mobile games and an understanding of player expectations in the evolving market.
