Tasks
We are seeking a Legal Associate to join our in-house legal team in Hamburg. The role will focus primarily on Germany while supporting cross-border legal matters across Europe. The Legal Associate will provide legal guidance on renewable project development, land acquisition, regulatory compliance, stakeholder negotiations, contract management, and participation in M&A and joint venture processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support renewable project development teams with legal advice and documentation
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including land agreements and partnership contracts
- Address regulatory and compliance matters related to renewable energy projects
- Contribute to M&A and joint venture processes, providing transactional support
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders across Europe
- Conduct legal research and provide solutions to complex legal issues
- Maintain flexibility to handle tasks beyond standard responsibilities in a small, boutique team
Requirements
- Law degree (JD or equivalent) with legal qualification in Germany
- 4–6 years of professional experience in an in-house role or law firm, preferably within renewable energy; candidates with general energy, real estate, or corporate/transactional experience will also be considered
- Fluent in German and English; additional languages are a plus
- Experience in cross-border legal contexts
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and solution-driven mindset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a small, dynamic team
- Candidates based in Hamburg or willing to relocate will be prioritized
