Program Manager (f/m/x) – Biomedical Software Solutions
Your responsibilities
As Program Manager for Product Discovery and Pre-Development (m/f/d) you will lead the execution of early-stage software innovation initiatives for our Digital Lab / Healthcare Solutions portfolio. This role combines lateral leadership with technical acumen and strategic thinking to shape early-stage product concepts into technically and commercially viable development candidates as part of our continuous software innovation pipeline.
- Lead cross-functional teams in international initiatives on software product discovery and pre-development to explore unmet healthcare needs, user pain points, and market opportunities
- Facilitate ideation workshops, user research, and early prototyping during product discovery to define and validate product hypotheses through structured experiments
- Collaborate closely with regional and global cross-functional stakeholders in Medical Scientific Affairs, Business Units, and Regulatory Affairs
- Drive software pre-development projects to assess technical feasibility, architecture options, intellectual property and regulatory pathways, with special focus on Digital Healthcare Solutions
- Coordinate proof-of-concept (PoC) and technical spike activities with Engineering and Quality Assurance teams to ensure early risk identification and mitigation (technical, clinical, regulatory)
- Align stakeholders on scope, timelines, and resource needs for transition to full development and ensure high-quality handover to product owners and development team
- Develop and maintain integrated roadmaps for discovery and pre-development initiatives funneling into continuous product pipelines as part of the digital innovation program
- Track progress, manage dependencies, and communicate status to leadership
- Champion agile and lean methodologies tailored to early-stage innovation
- Influence and align cross-functional teams through strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement
Your profile
- University degree or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Health IT, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in program or project management, ideally in biomedical software, digital health, or medical devices
- Proven experience managing early-stage software innovation initiatives in a matrix organization
- Strong cross-functional leadership and team management skills in aligning diverse teams (clinical, technical, regulatory, business) in a matrix environment
- Proficiency in managing complex, multi-phase initiatives using tools like Atlassian, MS Project, or similar
- Sound understanding of software architecture, cloud platforms, tech stacks, AI frameworks, and data privacy/security in healthcare
- Knowledge of standards such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and FDA/EMA guidance for software as a medical device (SaMD)
