Senior Backend Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Your tasks

• Support in the planning, development and further development of backend components and microservices with Java and Spring Boot in a cloud environment (Kubernetes) in the enterprise software environment.

• Contributing to the software architecture and supporting design decisions in close coordination with the team leader and other departments.

• Mentoring and technical support for developers to promote knowledge transfer and teamwork.

• Optimization and further development of development processes, methods and technologies used

• Creation and maintenance of technical concepts and documentation

• Participation in the definition and implementation of test strategies, including the creation of test plans, test cases and automated tests (unit and integration tests)

• Development and optimization of REST-based web APIs for integration with frontend systems and external B2B/B2C applications

• Implementation of message-based communication (e.g., via messaging systems or event brokers) for the efficient coupling of microservices and backend components.

• Implementation and maintenance of database changes (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) with consideration for data security, integrity, and availability.

• Ensuring code quality through refactoring, code reviews, and adherence to defined coding standards.

• Close collaboration with project management and product teams to implement technical solutions in line with project goals.

Your profile

• Completed university degree in computer science or a comparable field

• Experience with Spring, possibly Messaging (RabbitMQ), PostgreSQL, possibly MongoDB with at least 5 years of professional experience in a larger corporate environment

• Excellent German and English skills, both spoken and written (at least C1 level)

• Teamwork skills as well as a high level of commitment and sense of responsibility

• Basic knowledge of QA concepts, test methods and test types (e.g. functional, regression and UI tests)

• Knowledge in the field of DevOps (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD) is an advantage.

• Knowledge of the VDV core application is advantageous.
