Are you passionate about shaping the legal landscape of emerging technologies? Join Evotec’s Global Legal & Compliance Team at our Hamburg headquarters and play a pivotal role in ensuring our global operations remain at the forefront of data and AI law compliance.
Senior Legal Counsel (all genders) Data & AI Laws
Your key responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and lead or support the implementation of global compliance with Data and AI-related laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, EU AI Act, NIS 2 Directive) across Evotec SE and its affiliated companies
- Conduct or support compliance risk assessments and oversee the development of preventive and corrective measures
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and contract templates related to data and AI compliance
- Integrate compliance frameworks into core business functions (Operations, HR, IT, Procurement, and more)
- Monitor procurement and purchasing strategies to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory requirements
- Design and deliver internal training programs to promote awareness and understanding of data and AI laws
- Support commercial and operational teams with legal guidance for new business opportunities and advice on data and AI-related matters, including contract drafting and negotiation.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary compliance initiatives and projects beyond traditional legal scope
- Support the Legal Compliance Team in driving efficiency improvements through legal tech and collaborative knowledge sharing
Your ideal qualifications:
- Fully qualified lawyer with a strong passion for data protection, Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.
- Several years of professional experience, ideally in the Pharma or Biotech sector, including expertise in GDPR and other data and IT laws.
- Additional qualifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) or similar are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, and geographies
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking, with the ability to work across disciplines and understand complex systems, and think in an interdisciplinary, networked way.
- Able to manage high workloads and legal complexity under pressure while meeting deadlines
- Proactive and solution-driven mindset with a drive for continuous learning and innovation
- Fluency in written and spoken English and German
