How you can help shape the future:
In the challenging business of liquid cooling for data centers, it is crucial to keep pace with rapid developments and intense competition in the market. This competition comes from established lubricant competitors, emerging companies rising from the position of subcontractors, and alternative data center designs such as air cooling. Core competence in technical expertise and insights into technical trends in this area must be developed in order to offer integrated and innovative solutions for internal and external stakeholders, in addition to handling intuition-based and experience-based routine troubleshooting tasks.
As a senior technologist in product development for data centers, you will deliver integrated solutions that offer real added value to internal and external customers – safe, reliable, and efficient. Your expertise in lubricant products and services is central to this.
You will be part of bp's global Data Center Squad, which focuses on decarbonization and future-proofing the data center industry. You will support business growth by developing new fluids and advancing technology.
Your focus will be on fluid cooling, from immersion cooling fluids to direct-to-chip systems, and you will contribute your technical insights to innovation programs. You will identify strategic opportunities and support the development of new products for emerging markets.
As a senior technologist, you will act as a role model, coach colleagues, and optimize work processes. With your understanding of industrial megatrends and your ability to solve complex problems creatively, you will make a decisive contribution to bp's innovative strength.
Your new area of responsibility - challenging and future-oriented
- You ensure that all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with bp guidelines, values, and the Code of Conduct.
- You support the development, introduction, and application of new products including technical consulting and market adaptation.
- You analyze competitor products, provide strategic recommendations, and strengthen the positioning and credibility of bp products.
- You will lead or support complex service cases, use systematic methods for root cause analysis, and develop sustainable solutions.
- You will work closely with sales, OEMs, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand technical requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
- You will lead or support projects in TMS/ODIMS, develop methods for process and product optimization, and work closely with the global supply chain.
- You will identify technological opportunities, monitor market and industry trends (e.g., immersion cooling), develop innovative solutions, and represent bp in technical committees.
- You will ensure that technical data is valid, and product claims are legally and technically sound in close coordination with global technology teams.
- You will organize or support product training, internal communication, and external presentations to share knowledge effectively.
- You will build regional and global networks, represent bp at conferences, and contribute to international cooperation.
Your qualification profile - profound and passionate
- Strong skills in international and intercultural communication in written and oral practices.
- Degree or equivalent in chemistry, engineering, computer science, or related technical disciplines.
- Ideally, practical experience in data center/IT hardware, liquid cooling, or similar fields.
- Ideally, knowledge of the formulation, application, and production of lubricants and/or dielectric thermal management fluids.
- Demonstrated ability to manage in a systematic and professional manner.
- Proven basic skills in problem analysis, experimental design, data processing, and reporting.
- Extensive experience in technical development and technology deployment, in particular the ability to develop an idea into a solution.
- Extensive connections to industry partners, including companies, institutes, and researchers.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience in collaborating across teams.
