As a key part of the engineering leadership team, you’ll be responsible for guiding a talented team of backend developers, shaping software architecture, and ensuring scalable, secure systems are delivered in line with our product goals. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across product, infrastructure, and compliance to deliver software that powers a unique working capital solution used by major corporations across Europe.
This role is based in Hamburg with a hybrid setup: 2–3 days per week in our modern central office, the rest remote.

As a key part of the engineering leadership team, you’ll be responsible for guiding a talented team of backend developers, shaping software architecture, and ensuring scalable, secure systems are delivered in line with our product goals. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across product, infrastructure, and compliance to deliver software that powers a unique working capital solution used by major corporations across Europe.

What you’ll do:
- Lead and mentor a team of Java backend engineers, supporting their growth and fostering a high-performance culture
- Drive delivery of critical platform features in close collaboration with product and business teams
- Set engineering standards and guide architectural decisions for scalable, secure systems
- Remain hands-on as needed: contribute to code, review PRs, and support architecture discussions
- Ensure clean, well-documented codebases and support the adoption of DevOps best practices
- Help scale our engineering function as the business grows
What we’re looking for:
- Strong background in backend development, ideally with Java and Spring Boot
- Previous experience leading engineering teams (people leadership, mentoring, technical guidance)
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), containerisation, CI/CD, and modern DevOps principles
- Ability to translate business needs into clear technical solutions
- Fluent in English (German is a plus)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
