Let's connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the Group Risk Management team at our headquarters in Hannover / Germany, join us on a temporary basis for 24 months, commencing as soon as possible as a Catastrophe Risk Modeller.
You can look forward to
- Quotation of the Hannover Re Group’s worldwide catastrophe business using licensed and proprietary natural hazards and cyber models, in particular Touchstone and Touchstone Re (Verisk)
- Reviewing and validating the plausibility of scientific assumptions underlying natural hazards models, including model validation and targeted adjustments for quotation and aggregate control purposes
- Development of tools to visualise and process insured property risks, including the use of geo-processing techniques and spatial data analytics
- Conducting studies and analyses to assess potential losses from worldwide natural hazards such as windstorm, earthquake, flood, tsunami, hail, as well as cyber risks
- Participating in cross-functional projects and international working groups
You come equipped with
- A completed master’s degree in mathematics, (geo)physics, geomatics, or a comparable quantitative field
- Professional experience in risk management at a (re)insurance company as well as experience in geographical information systems (GIS) and geo-processing
- Knowledge of the programming languages R and/or Python
- Experience with IT resources and systems in AWS and Microsoft Azure; familiarity with cloud-native geospatial data formats
- Proficient user skills in both English and German
- An international mindset and a willingness to travel occasionally (approximately three to four times per year)
- Confident appearance with strong communication skills, a tech-savvy mindset, and a proactive approach to optimizing and streamlining work processes
